Frequently Asked Questions:

If this is your first time with us, we recommend starting off with Service B. We suggest getting on an A-B-A-C schedule after that. This will ensure your car is properly maintained according to your manufacturer’s specifications.

Our Service Packages are designed to cover the essential points of your routine maintenance. If you’re looking for the most basic package, we recommend our Service A. The price is comparable to an oil change at a dealership or lube shops, but you also get a 21-point vehicle inspection and washer fluid top-up. It’s possible to get just the oil and filter changed, but the price will remain the same as for Service A, so we recommend taking advantage of the added value of the package.

Unfortunately no. We supply the engine oil and filter to ensure that the correct parts and fluids are being used in your vehicle, and to be fully covered by our 12-month/20,000 km warranty.

Most vehicles run perfectly fine on conventional oil, although some owners prefer synthetic oil as it is generally higher quality and allows your engine to last longer between oil changes. Ultimately, it is up to you which oil you would prefer. However, there are certain vehicles that require synthetic oil to perform effectively. These tend to be higher-end vehicles or vehicles with sensitive engine components. Our certified mechanics go by manufacturer specifications in choosing which oil is best for your vehicle.

Oil changes are typically recommended every 8,000 km or 6-month, whichever comes first.

How often to change your engine oil and filter depends on the type of engine oil, the age and make of your vehicle and driving habits. According to Ford Motor Company, regular drivers that own 2008 and newer models can change their engine oil every 12,000 km or six months and drivers should change the oil in vehicles 2007 and older every 8,000 km or six months.

Drivers with less typical driving habits, including frequent off-road driving or driving in dusty conditions, towing or carrying heavy loads, excessive idling or driving at low speeds for long distances, should change engine oil every 8,000 km or six months for vehicles 2008 and newer, and every 5,000 km or three months for cars 2007 and older.

Although recommended oil change intervals vary by the vehicle manufacturer, in general, a good rule of thumb to follow is to change conventional motor oil every 8,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first. If you’re using full synthetic oil, you can go up to 12,000 km between changes.

An oil change takes about 15 minutes after your oil change begins. With instaMek there is no wait time prior as our certified mechanic comes to your home or office. The full maintenance service takes a bit longer, depending on the service package you select.

Check your engine oil when the car is warm and on a flat, level surface. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean. Push the dipstick all the way in, wait for a second, and then withdraw it and check the level. The oil should be between the two marks.
